Yellowstone National Park is an American national park located in the western United States and established by the U.S. Congress and signed into law by President Ulysses S. Grant on March 1, 1872.
The park is known for its wildlife and its many geothermal features and it spans an area of 3,468.4 square miles (8,983 km2), comprising lakes, canyons, rivers, and mountain ranges.
Yellowstone is widely considered to be the finest megafauna wildlife habitat in the lower 48 states.
There are almost 60 species of mammals in the park, including the Rocky Mountain wolf, coyote, the Canadian lynx, cougars, and black and grizzly bears.
