I’ll be honest with you guys, I never cared much for spiders. Not until I found out about the peacock spider and let me tell you, I am a fan now. At least in the sense of appreciating them and respecting Mother Nature even more.
Peacock spiders are actually so tiny, some of their magnificent details can only be seen with a macro lens.

“Once you begin watching spiders, you haven’t time for much else.”

― Charlie Brooker
“Spiders so large they appear to be wearing the pelts of small mammals.”

“The spider’s web: She finds an innocuous corner in which to spin her web. The longer the web takes, the more fabulous its construction. She has no need to chase. She sits quietly, her patience a consummate force; she waits for her prey to come to her on their own, and then she ensnares them, injects them with venom, rendering them unable to escape. Spiders – so needed and yet so misunderstood.”
― Donna Lynn Hope
“I take my hat off to you — or I would, if I were not afraid of showering you in spiders.”
― J.K. Rowling
“No one knows, incidentally, why Australia’s spiders are so extravagantly toxic; capturing small insects and injecting them with enough poison to drop a horse would appear to be the most literal case of overkill. Still, it does mean that everyone gives them lots of space.”
― Bill Bryson
Spiders have 8 legs while insects have 6 and they don’t have antennae while insects do. Spiders are also found on every continent of the world except Antarctica.

“Spider venom comes in many forms. It can often take a long while to discover the full effects of the bite. Naturalists have pondered this for years: there are spiders whose bite can cause the place bitten to rot and to die, sometimes more than a year after it was bitten. As to why spiders do this, the answer is simple. It’s because spiders think this is funny, and they don’t want you ever to forget them.”

Most spiders are harmless to humans but a few spider species, such as the black widow, can bite humans and inject venom. Deaths from spider bites are rare, however, as spiders will only bite humans in self-defense, and few produce worse effects than a mosquito bite or bee sting.
“I’ll stop eating steak when you stop killing spiders.” Absurdity: comparing cows to spiders. Arachnids are pure evil. They’re like a cigarette manufacturer or a terrorist. They’re organized religion on eight legs.”
― Davey Havok
“Spiders are anti-social, keep pests under control, and mostly mind their own business, but they somehow summon fear in humans who are far more dangerous, deceitful and have hurt more people. Of the two I’m more suspicious about the latter.”
― Donna Lynn Hope

The treatment is typically by exposure therapy, where the person is presented with pictures of spiders or the spiders themselves.
